The Halters

Halt Who Poops There, that’s us, Greg and Laura HALTer. Get it? Cute right. Just like our picture here. We are a local couple excited to jump into the mom and pop business arena. Having 2 kids, we understand a chaotic life, driving, cooking, cleaning, participating, sleeping, etc. repeat. It can all feel like so much to do and not enough time to enjoy what beautiful people and things God has given us. We are excited to bring a new service of Poop Scooping to Morganton, Hickory, Lake James, Lenoir and the surrounding towns. Let one chore be checked off your list. Halt Who Poops There can help you by picking up that poo!

FAQ

Let us ease your mind about our poop scooping

  • Will my dog be safe? Yes, your dogs safety is one of our top priorities. Equipment and shoes are disinfected with a veterinary grade disinfectant, to prevent spread of viruses and diseases. We also ensure your fence and gate are locked and will send a picture upon completed service.
  • Are you insured? Yes we are insured to make sure that you are safe and covered.
  • How do I pay? HWPT is a monthly subscription service, you will be charged monthly on the 1st of the month.
  • What are client responsibilities? Your yard should be accessible, lawn mowed, free of large amounts of debris and leaves. The leaves camouflage the poop, if we cannot see it then we cannot remove the poop. Gates need to be free of ice or snow and unlocked. Aggressive dogs need to be indoors on service days. Give us at least 48 hours notice if you do not need our service.
  • Does HWPT provide year round waste removal? Yes! Only the worst conditions will keep us away. We will let you know if this ever is the case and will work out makeup cleanings or refunds when necessary.
  • How do you get rid of the poop? We will bag it, tie it shut and place it in your trash can or next to a garage or door.
  • Can my dog be outside during service? Yes, if your  fur babies are friendly we would love their company. If you have an aggressive dog they must stay inside. If they get out when we are servicing your yard, warnings or service being terminated will be the next steps. We have to maintain our personal safety.
  • Can I request a service day and time? Sorry, no. Much like your trash service, we have to plan our routes quite specifically, for fuel efficiency and time management. This way we can offer you the best pricing and service.
  • Do I have to be home? No, as long as we have access to the yard, then we can perform our pooper scooper service.

Terms of Service

As the client what am I responsible for?

  • You are responsible for maintaining safe access into and out of the yard. The gate/fence needs to be clear of debris, ice and snow, so that we can get in and out.

  • Please keep leaves and yard waste cleaned up. Dog poop camouflages quite nicely amongst these things. We cannot service dense brush, overgrown gardens, or behind obstacles with safety risks.

  • Please notify us, immediately, of any changes in the number of pets.

  • Dangerous dogs must be secured and confirmation day of will be necessary.

If we are unable to perform service due to any of the above items not being taken care of, we will let you know the problem and clean up double dooty the next week, after you have resolved the issues.

How do I pay?

We have a client portal where payment is processed. If you did not onboard yourself through the quote button on our website, we will create an account on your behalf when you have a call with us. We will email your login info. The process to sign up is simple and takes under two minutes. Inside of your portal account, you will have access to copies of all paid invoices, records of past cleanups, and you can link your credit/debit card into the secure platform. After you link your card, we will generate and pay invoices on your behalf and send you receipts.

Do you bill monthly?

Yes: Billing occurs on the 1st of each month before services are provided.

Payments for initial or one-time cleanups are due upon completion of the job.

For Recurring –

On your first cleanup, we will bill for the initial cleanup as well as prorate the remainder of the month at the same time. Then, you’re all set up for 1st of the month billing.

If payment is not received before your first cleanup of the month you will be removed from the service schedule until payment is processed. Services billed for the month are non-refundable. If you choose to cancel, we are more than happy to clean for the remainder of the month for you if needed.

What time will you be at my home?

With respect to scheduling, we are unable to provide a timeframe on your scoop day. We have many yards to clean, and our routes are constantly being optimized for efficiency. This also helps keep our rates low for you! Our routes run from around 7am to dark.

Communication is important and you will always receive notice via text when we are on the way. We provide 30 – 60 minutes notice, so you are properly informed of our arrival. If you are at the beginning of our route, you will likely receive a 15-30 minute on the way text. We don’t want to bother you at 6am. Your scoop day will be the same day each week. If your service day ever changes, we will always communicate with you in advance.

Do I have to be home when you clean?

No, you do not have to be home when we clean. We simply ask for easy access to your gate. We can also clean with the doggies in the yard as long as they are very friendly. Once the cleanup is completed, we will send a picture of your closed gate.

Note: If our staff has never met your dogs before and you are home, please let the technician know ahead of time that you will be letting the dogs out for an introduction. We don’t want to startle anyone!

Dangerous Dogs

The safety of our team is of utmost importance. If you have a dangerous dog then our policy is as follows.

  • On your service day, you will recieve an “On the way”. Please respond that your dog is secured and we can enter the property to clean.

  • If you don’t reply confirming it’s safe, we will knock and wait up to 2 minutes.

  • If you do not answer the door and confirm the dangerous dog(s) is secured then we will skip the service.

  • When we service your yard, we will have the gate open. Accidents do happen, and our technicians need an escape if a dangerous dog gets out. We are not responsible if your dog runs away in this event.

Inclement Weather

If we deem the weather is unsuitable to scoop in, we will notify you as soon as possible and perform double duty the following week. You will still be charged do to the double amount of dog poop accumulated.

What Happens If my Service Day is on a Holiday?

Great question! If your service day falls on a major holiday, we will skip that week’s cleanup and perform double dooty the following week. You will still be charged due to 2 weeks of accumulated poop in the yard.

Do you disinfect your equipment?

Yes! We disinfect our equipment after each cleanup with a kennel-grade disinfectant to prevent the spread of germs.

Waste Removal

We remove solid waste only. Diarrhea or waste indicating health concerns will not be handled, and clients will be notified to seek veterinary care if necessary.

Due to the excessive amount of accumulted waste, we do not take the dog waste away with us. Once the cleanup is complete, we will place the waste inside of your trash receptacle if it’s outside.

Otherwise, we will double/triple bag the waste so it’s presentable and place the bags by your gate, garage, or door.

We reserve the right to amend these terms at any time. Please review periodically for any updates. Initiating service constitutes agreement to these terms, including property access and billing practices.
